Privacy Policy
Last updated 23 August 2026
Rank It is a tool for making ranking-style short videos. This policy explains what information the service collects, why it collects it, and what control you have over it. It applies to rank4it.com and covers everyone who signs in there.
The short version
- Your ranking projects stay in your own browser, not on our server.
- Google data is used only to show which channel is connected and to upload videos you choose to publish. It is never sold, never shared, and never used to train AI models.
- We never see or store your card details. Stripe handles payment.
- You can disconnect YouTube or delete your account at any time.
What is collected
Account information
When you sign in, we store your email address and an account identifier derived from it. That is what separates your data from everyone else on the service.
Your projects and videos
Ranking projects — the brief, the clips you shortlist, the order you put them in — are saved in your browser local storage. They are not uploaded to our server, and we cannot read them. Clearing your browser data deletes them.
Videos you export are rendered on our server and stored there so you can download them or publish them later. They are private to your account.
Billing
Subscriptions are handled by Stripe. We store the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers and your current plan. We never receive your card number.
Usage
We count how much of your monthly plan allowance you have used, so the service knows when you have reached your limit.
Google user data
Connecting a YouTube channel is optional. The service works fully without it — you can research, build, and download videos with no Google connection at all. If you do connect one, these are the permissions requested and the only things they are used for:
| Permission | What it is used for |
|---|---|
youtube.readonly | Read the name of the channel you connect, so the studio can show you which channel is linked and confirm the connection is still working. No other channel data is read or stored. |
youtube.upload | Upload a finished video to your channel — only when you press publish, and only the video you chose. |
openid, email | Identify your account and sign you in. |
The access and refresh tokens Google issues are stored on our server, restricted to your account, with file permissions that prevent other users of the machine from reading them. They are not shared with any third party.
Rank It use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In particular: Google user data is never used for advertising, never sold or transferred to third parties, and never used to train artificial intelligence models. No human reads it except where you have asked us to help with a support problem, or where the law requires it.
Service providers
These companies process data on our behalf so the service can function:
| Provider | Purpose | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Subscriptions and payment | Your email and payment details you enter on the Stripe checkout page |
| Resend | Sign-in emails | Your email address |
| Sign-in and video publishing | The permissions described above | |
| AI and search providers | Clip research and writing help | Your written brief and frames from public videos being checked. Never your Google data, your email, or your payment details. |
| Fly.io | Hosting | Everything stored on the server, as our infrastructure provider |
Where data is kept, and for how long
Server data is stored in Sydney, Australia. Account information and rendered videos are kept while your account is open. Delete your account and they are removed. Stripe keeps billing records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, independently of us.
Your choices
- Disconnect YouTube — Settings, then Disconnect. This deletes the stored tokens immediately.
- Revoke access at Google — you can remove Rank It at any time from your Google account permissions page, whether or not you use the button in the app.
- Delete your projects — clearing your browser data removes them, because they were never anywhere else.
- Delete your account — email us and we will remove your account data and rendered videos.
- Ask what we hold — email us and we will tell you, and correct anything wrong.
Security
Traffic is encrypted with HTTPS. Sessions use signed, HTTP-only cookies. Credentials and tokens are stored with restricted file permissions and are never sent to your browser. No system is perfectly secure, but data is not kept where it does not need to be — which is why projects live in your browser rather than on our server.
Children
Rank It is not intended for people under 16, and accounts should not be created for them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects how your information is handled, the date at the top changes and significant changes are notified by email.
